The RPG-style level up system adds a bit more to this game to keep you entertained for hours. While Drakengard 3’s insane story will keep you entertained, its fast-paced combat will keep you on your toes. There are quite a few things to do in the game which includes a story after you complete the main game, tons of collectibles, and plenty of quests to complete. There were loading and framerate issues for example, there was a part where the game would somehow move you into the next screen as you proceed. Also, the Nier re-mixed music during certain stages is a nice add-on. The game’s got an enjoyable soundtrack, and it’s a a nice bonus to be able to change certain tracks, which can be bought as DLC options. Her sisters all share a similar look, but each has their own color scheme and crazy personality. Zero has a very unique look with her white dress and odd flower that looks like a kunai embedded in her eye. The graphics are amazing and has a nice depth and feel. Since stages can be replayed at anytime, you can quickly power up your items and collect everything the game has to offer.ĭrakengard 3 will have a very familiar feel for Drakengard and Nier fans.

You can also buy powers ups which helps later in the game. Weapons can be bought and upgraded by spending money you earn from looting and etc.

The air battles are a nice addition to the game, with a Panzer Dragoon-esque aerial dog fight style. However, Mikhail will still be around and can be summoned in battle to help against large enemies and waves of enemies. While the original Drakengard allowed you to jump on your dragon anytime, Drakengard 3 only allows you to ride your dragon during specific battles. Each weapon adds a new style for Zero and has advantages in battle. As you progress Zero will obtain new weapons she can equip and quick change, which includes a lance, chakram, and a pair of gauntlets which makes Zero look like she belongs in a Street Fighter game. It doesn’t help that her sisters have disciples who have some “unique” tastes and “kinks”, including a masochist who gets off on practically anything.ĭrakengard 3 will have a very familiar play style for those who have played the previous PlayStation 2 titles. She loves to talk trash, cuss and make fun of everyone around her, even Mikhail, her own dragon, who she calls weak compared to Michael. Hacking and slashing combat is pretty standard, with Zero bathing in the blood of her opponents. She starts slaughtering the troops before confronting her sisters in a 1 vs 5 battle, which leads to a scene where Zero loses her dragon, Michael, and her arm. After some long time after healing, she’s back and with a new dragon, Mikhail, who is born from Michael but with no memories. Once the game starts you are thrown into battle, with Zero being called a traitor for wanting to kill her sisters. Armed with her blade and accompanied by her dragon, Mikhail, she will cut down anyone who gets in her way. The story follows Zero, a god-like being known as an Intoner who has decided she wants to kill off her five sisters and become the world’s only Intoner. Known in Japan as Drag-On Dragoon 3, Drakengard 3 is a prequel to the first Darkengard game released back in 2004.
